THE Rotary Club of Camelford held their annual Charity Golf Day at Bowood Park Golf Club on Thursday, April 27.
The weather was dry and mostly sunny, a little chilly in the light wind but good conditions for a round of golf. All enjoyed warming up later with a tasty carvery dinner in the Bowood Club restaurant.
Members of the winning Phil Higgs team each received a £25 voucher for golf equipment. Second place was awarded to the White Hart A team of Jack Hobbs, Dale Causby, Jeremy Stanford-Davis and Rob Doe who each received a voucher for £15. Third place went to the M&M Plumbing and Heating team of Shane Metters, Rob Cole, Tom Cole and Charlie Round who each received a voucher for £10.
Further vouchers for £10 were won by Mervyn Fudge for nearest the pin on hole 2, Nigel Connolly for nearest the pin on hole 6 and David Goodman for nearest the pin on hole 14. A £20 voucher was won by Richard Hart for nearest the box on hole 15.
Jeremy Chapman had a very successful day, winning the Gross 2’s prize for being the only player to complete a short hole in two shots plus winning the case of wine for being the last man standing in the after dinner Irish Bingo game. Jack Hobbs won the Putting in the Bar competition and took home a gallon bottle of Famous Grouse whisky.
Rotary Club President, David Hodge, said: “This was a very enjoyable sporting and social event and was also a very successful charity fund raising event. The Rotary Club of Camelford would like to thank all the players for their support and all the local business sponsors who have kindly made donations totalling £2,000 to our charity fund. All proceeds from this event will be given to the Cornwall Air Ambulance service and other local Rotary charities.”
