CALLINGTON’S Theresa Milne has raised more than £500 by organising a cycling challenge for Parkinson’s UK recently.

Theresa, 62, and a team of ten others, took on a ten-mile route along the Camel Trail between Padstow and Bodmin.

The cycle was put together in support of Callington local Pat Shaw, 73, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s more than ten years ago. Theresa, a Cambridge Weight Plan consultant, has been helping out with Pat’s care for the past 18 months and has seen first-hand how debilitating Parkinson’s is.

Theresa said: “I love cycling to Pat’s house and it gave me the idea to organise a cycle fundraiser to help support Pat and the quest to cure Parkinson’s. I wanted to get my clients involved too and we achieved so much as a team. We managed to raise £540 for Parkinson’s UK, as well as helping to raise awareness and change attitudes towards the condition. I’d like to say a big thank you to Bridge Cycle Hire who were exceptional and provided the bikes for the event.”

Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising for Parkinson’s UK, said: “Thank you to Theresa and her team for choosing to support us with their cycle. The money raised will help us to provide support and information for people affected by Parkinson’s, and to help find better treatments and ultimately a cure.”
