THAT old outfit at the back of the wardrobe, which has never even seen the light of day, could be used to raise money for a suicide bereavement charity that supports people in and around the Post’s area.

On Saturday, February 4, a charity ‘clothes swap and lingerie sale’ will take place in Lifton’s St Mary’s Church Hall in aid of ‘Pete’s Dragons’.

Pete’s Dragons provide support to those affected by the loss of a family member through suicide. They provide after care and bereavement support in Devon, and alongside the NHS in Cornwall.

For their latest fundraising event the charity are looking for nearly new, freshly laundered clothing on hangers to be donated for the clothing swap — nearly new bags, shoes, coats and accessories are also welcome too.

Alison Hill, chief executive and founder of Pete’s Dragons, said: “We will be holding a fundraising event this weekend, organised by my mother, in Lifton’s village hall — the St Mary’s Church Hall. It will be a clothes swap where people can bring along their unwanted clothes and swap them with others.

“Basically, we all have that piece of clothing at the back of the wardrobe we bought on a whim, that still has the tags on and we are never going to wear. Instead of taking that item to a charity shop this event gives people a chance to bring those items along and pay just £1 for any other item donated on the day. People can come away with a completely brand new, sparkling wardrobe for pence. It is great fun and raises money for our charity.”

The event will be held in St Mary’s Church Hall in Lifton from 11am to 4pm. All donations will go to Pete’s Dragons.

The charity recently received a donation of some quality brand new lingerie and jewellery, which will also be on sale with a 90% reduction off the retail price.

It is the perfect excuse to clear out the wardrobe and grab some bargains whilst benefitting a charity that helps local people.
