TWO old friends have become work colleagues by chance after bumping into each other on a Bude new-build location — and now one has become the other’s best man!

Site managers Keith Wheeler and Colin Dan grew up together and later spotted each other at Bovis Homes’ Shorelands location, off Binhamy Road, after Keith started work there through an agency.

In no time, the pair were reminiscing and picking up their friendship where they left off — which has now seen Colin appointed best man at Keith’s wedding to long-term partner Tracey.

Keith, who has decades of experience in the construction industry, said: “I turned up through an agency to lend a hand and help out — and then ran into Colin who I didn’t realise would be there!

“It was a huge shock, but a great surprise. The build director liked my work, so I ended up becoming a full-time employee at Bovis Homes and working my way up.

“There couldn’t have been anyone else to pick as best man at my wedding — Colin and I go way back and we now have a brilliant time building superb homes at Shorelands.

“The relationship between the build and sales team is what makes the location so successful and we also have strong relationships with the sub-contractors here. But it’s all about the customer and making sure they’re getting the best quality homes they can and that’s what makes the difference in Bude.”

Keith has worked his way up to join Colin, who was assistant site manager at the time, and both now run the build as site managers at different phases of the development.
