Last weekend 13 members of Launceston Swim Club travelled to Penzance to participate in the Cornwall County Club Championship Gala.

The team competed against six other Cornwall clubs in a total of 37 individual Freestyle, Backcrawl, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Relay events. As our team was depleted in older swimmers many of the younger members 'swam up' in an older age group to fill the gaps but to ensure valuable points were not lost. As a consequence all the Launceston competitors swam under great odds and achieved a marvellously exciting effort throughout. Many personal best times (PB) were gained and a great day was had by all.

Many thanks go to the dedication of team coach, John Rhodes and team manager Wendy Rivers who worked hard to make all run smoothly. Results of individual races as follows:

Girls 11 yrs & under

Boys 13 yrs & under

Daniel Gregg 50m BC 34:44 2nd , 50m BR 43:04 4th; Harry Gilbert 50m Fly 40:02 6th; Hugh Harvey 50m FC 33:14 7th.

Girls 13 yrs & under

Emily Kane 50m BC 36:65 3rd, 50m Fly 39:00 5th; Samantha Rivers 50m BR 43:04 4th, 50m FC 32:20 (PB) 3rd.

Boys 15 yrs & under
