On Tuesday March 24, 76 Launceston Seniors played in a qualifying medal including four also competing in the Winter League play off.

These four were restricted to seven clubs due to league rules but despite this Paul Roach came 1st in Division 1 and also recorded the lowest gross of the day, he clearly was the League Champion and received the Trophy from Captain Robin.

The Eclectic Trophy was won by Graham Nevitte who unfortunately was unable to attend to receive it. The prize giving took a long time to arrange because of the large number of individual events decided on the day, Captain Robin, Vice-Captain Gerald and willing helper Tim certainly had a busy time. Thirteen 2s were scored with Earl Terris getting 2 despite a nett score of 13 over par.

On Friday the 27th the Seniors team were away to Ilfracombe one of the longest trips of the season. The home side provide sandwiches before the match a feature much appreciated by Captain Robin.

On this occasion he was perturbed to find roads to Ilfracombe blocked at Bideford causing him to arrive last, luckily his team-mates had left him his appointed share. He and partner Peter found themselves 2 down at the 15th when one of their opponents off a 22 handicap achieved a nett 2 on the par 4. They recovered with long putts on the next 3 holes and achieved a half. Apart from John Mullins and Graham Nevitte winning the 4th match all other pairs lost leading to a 61/2 to 11/2 defeat.

Results: Robin Johnson (Cpt) & Peter Lyons halved; Paul Roach & Don Slee lost 2&1: Brian Ben-David & Lawrence Bailey lost 5&4; John Mullins & Graham Nevitte won 2&1; Brian Alford & Peter Fisher lost 4&3; Rex Haythornthwaite & Neville Helme lost 4&3; Colin Butler & David Napier lost 5&3; Gerald Cramp (V/Cpt) & Terry Swords lost 3&2.
