A special ceremony was held in the entrance to Enfield Park, Camelford on Saturday to dedicate the town's Charter Commemorative Stone. 2009 was the 750th anniversary of Camelford receiving its first Royal Charter. During last June and July there were numerous events at various venues to celebrate this historic milestone. The commemorative stone was installed as a
permanent record of the town's acknowledgement of the significant date. The stone, of Cornish granite and supplied by local mason Steve Kay, has been positioned near the entrance to Enfield Park. The unveiling and
dedication ceremony was held on Saturday, the closest weekend to St Piran's Day. The inscription at the head of the stone will serve as a
reminder of how Camelford's status changed from village to town all those years ago.
