IN 2015, Camelford Women’s Institute planted a tree in Enfield Park to celebrate the centenary of the WI.
Having waited for it to establish, the Camelford WI ladies placed a plaque at the base of the tree, which was unveiled by Margaret Mabson, who also officiated at the tree planting ceremony.
The weather was kind and there was good attendance. Everyone then went over to the Old Bank for refreshments and cake, which was made and donated by Kirsty Ferguson, deputy mayor, and staunch supporter of the WI.
Rita Wright, the archivist, brought out some old records to peruse and a good time was had by all.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank John Gilbert for planting the tree and plaque, and know that they are in safe hands.”
