LIFTON Local History Group is getting ready for its exhibition that will celebrate the centenary of Ambrosia.
The Ambrosia Creamery in Lifton was opened in 1917 by Alfred Morris as a dried milk factory — Ambrosia meaning ‘food from the Gods’.
To mark 100 years, the Lifton Local History Group has been compiling photographs, memorabilia and memories for an exhibition to be held in the village.
It will include audio interviews conducted by members of the history group with ex-employees and even a present day apprentice — the exhibition will compromise of memories from the past right up to present day.
The group said it has enjoyed delving into the company’s history, and finding out things nobody knew Ambrosia had made — but not wanting to elaborate any more and risk spoiling the exhibition!
There will be a special preview for those who have contributed their memories, and then the exhibition will be open to the public at the Tamar Room, Arundell Arms, on Saturday, May 27 from 10am to 4pm and Sunday, May 28 from noon to 4pm.
- A THANKSGIVING service will be held at St Mary’s Church in Lifton on May 14, celebrating Ambrosia Creamery’s centenary year.
The all faith service will take place at 3pm with tea and cake after.
The service will reflect on Ambrosia having been part of the local community for 100 years.
