The Camelford and Week St Mary Methodist Circuit held a celebration service at Living Water, Canworthy Water on the Sunday before every church had to close under Government regulations, following the outbreak of COVID-19.
During the service Sophie Doyle and her family were welcomed to the village, she will be based there as the church and community worker for eight small churches within the Circuit.
Presentations were made to local preachers who had served the wider Methodist Church over many years. Len Mabson from Camelford received a certificate for 70 years and John Poorta from Living Water for 40 years. They too were joined by their families to mark these very special moments in their service to God.
A gift was presented to Carol Teague who has spent almost three years being a pastoral worker across many of the Circuit churches. The service was led by the Rev Linda Barriball, the preacher was John Poorta and other local preachers took part.
The circuit has 15 churches and covers an area from St Breward to Week St Mary and Tresparrett to Delabole. Some hold support groups and events for all ages as well as offering their buildings to be used by community groups.
With the closure of churches, a weekly written service is being distributed by email and post as well as being on the circuit website, www.cwmcircuit.org.uk
