THE Royal British Legion branch headquarters in Launceston has been officially opened and blessed after its purchase and renovation. Branch members and many friends from the community met on Saturday for the opening and blessing of Edymead in Westgate Street, the former police station. The purchase and renovation of the new meeting place for the ex-service community and branch headquarters have taken over a year to complete, but the end result was greatly admired by those at the opening. Mayor Dave Gordon, accompanied by mayoress Carole Gordon, performed the ribbon cutting ceremony and declared the building open, followed by the Rev Jane Everitt who gave the blessing.
