FIVE years of hard work and dedication from the people of Lezant ended with a service of celebration at the weekend for the restoration of the roof. John Overton from Parkes Lees, who had overseen the project from the start, took part in the celebration, along with Donna Birrell from Radio Cornwall, who had taken an interest in the restoration. The service was taken by the Rev Anne Brown, with the Archdeacon, the Ven Audrey Elkington giving the final blessing. Mrs Brown praised all those who had worked hard to achieve so much since fundraising began early in 2010. With English Heritage providing a considerable amount of the grant funding, it was also thanks to the generosity of the National Churches Trust, Cornwall Historic Churches Trust, the Weston Trust and many smaller trust bodies, that the work was able to proceed. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
