RENOWNED Launceston poet Charles Causley has been featured in ‘Poems on the Underground’ on the London Tube.

Causley’s ‘I Am the Song’ was spotted in ‘Poems on the Underground’ on Thursday, July 4, greeting passengers on the Tube for their regular journeys throughout London. Spotted by Cahal Dallat on his Tube journey, the poem was a friendly reminder of Cornwall to Cahal.

Cahal was the 2017 centenary poet/musician-in-residence at Cyprus Well in Launceston, where he wrote new music for Charles’ poems, worked in schools and gave performances at the Charles Causley Festival in 2017 and 2018.

As well as this, Cahal has presented his work at Launceston Castle, Wadebridge, Edinburgh BookFest, London’s Troubadour Coffee-House, BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, Poetry Society in Covent Garden and in 2018 talked to Poems on the Underground about displaying Charles’ ‘Armistice Day’ in November.

Poems on the Underground collaborates with the Poetry Society to bring some of Britain’s best poetry from successful past poets to the public eye on the London Tube.

Cahal said: “I’m delighted to see they’ve picked his ‘I Am the Song’ for this summer, adding a reminder of Cornwall to my London Tube journeys!”
