TO CELEBRATE the life and works of Launceston’s greatest poet, Causley at Trecarrell will be held at Trecarrell Manor on Sunday, May 22.

Neil and Ruth Burden in association with The Charles Causley Trust will be opening the house and gardens.

It is a unique opportunity to share poet Charles Causley’s love of this medieval Manor House, Great Hall and Chapel.

Dedicated to Charles Causley, a programme of events will be held from 12.30pm to 4pm in the grounds of Trecarrell Manor.

The afternoon’s events will include: a reception drink and buffet lunch will be held at 1pm; a tour of Trecarrell Manor with Cornish historian Jo Mattingly; memories of Charles Causley’s visits to Trecarrell by Neil Burden; there will be a poetry reading by The Charles Causley Trust’s most recent poet-in-residence at Cyprus Well, Isabel Galleymore; readings of Causley’s poetry; music by Egloskerry Harpist, Barbara Griggs; a specialist book sale and a raffle.

The Causley Trust, which exists to keep alive the memory of the late Charles Causley and to promote writing in the community and region is running this event.

The Trust acquired Charles Causley’s House in 2007 and it works towards continuing the development of the poet’s house as a centre to celebrate his life and writing.

It is an exclusive event that promises to be a unique and popular and with only 75 tickets on sale, with over half already sold, it is best to book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are £20 per person and can be purchased at Launceston Tourist Information Centre or by calling the TIC on 01566 772 321.
