BUDE-BASED charity Community Action Through Sport (CATS) actually has been granted four 'Inspire' marks by the 'London 2012 Inspire' programme.

Of these street paddler and urban surf are being run across Devon and Cornwall now. Both are sports diversionary projects to draw young people at risk or in need into sports and access to coaching qualifications so that they are skilled to volunteer back into the community.

The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Both urban surf and street paddler events have had remarkable impacts on the young people who have taken part; who may not have had the confidence or aspiration to do canoeing or surfing or indeed be able to afford to take part in such activities.
