THE seizure of alcohol from under-age drinkers on New Year's Eve has given members of the Bude branch of the Royal British Legion the chance of an unexpected bonus for the new year. All the alcohol will be placed in the branch's periodic raffles, bringing much needed income to the welfare fund of the legion. The young people were caught before any serious amounts had been consumed. They dispersed after being warned about the serious effects of illegal drinking, both on their health and the fact that it is illegal. A spokesman for Bude RBL said: "Bude PCSO Stuart Baxter was the officer concerned, he has a good relationship with the young people in the area. He has the knack of explaining rather than lecturing that goes down well with that age group. Stuart is also involved with Bude Army Cadets as an adult Sergeant Instructor."
