A GOOD crowd turned out to watch St Breward Carnival on Saturday, which topped off the village’s Carnival Week celebrations.

The procession set off from Rylands Green at 6pm, through the village and to the football club, for presentations in the carnival marquee. In the procession were vintage cars, tractors, walkers, a float and even a new set of Minis.

Carnival chairman Denton Bourne said: “It was a good turnout again and we seemed to have a good crowd watching.”

Entertainment included the Tarka Pipe Band, Cornish Wreckers, Turnpike Marching Jazz Band and Vincent Family Fairground Organ. For children, there were bouncy castles and children’s entertainer Mr Showers.

Trevor Ternouth acted as Master of Ceremonies, giving out the top prizes for various classes, as well as raffle prizes and prizes for the previously judged village scarecrow competition.

Events leading up to carnival evening included an evening with Johnny Cowling, the carnival week quiz night and carnival service.
