The contest to be the Carnival Princess, at the Ross-on-Wye Carnival, took place on Sunday, May 3rd at the Larruperz centre. 19 young girls took part in the competition.

The girls was judged based on certain criteria, such as appearance, confidence, and answers to questions given. Each girl was introduced to the group by the Mayor, Colin Gray, and then went and spoke to the judges. Mayoress Anne Gray organised the girls behind the scenes.

The girl who was crowned the Carnival Princess was ten-year-old Lucy Phillips. In second place was twelve-year-old Daisy Hayward, and in third place was nine-year-old Ebony Shepherd.
