A PUBLIC lecture of the Carminow Memorial, Ashwater, with distinguished conservationist, Lynne Humphries, is due to take place next month.

The Carminow Memorial at St Peter Ad Vincula parish church, Ashwater, is considered one of the finest of its kind in North Devon, and commemorates Sir Thomas Carminow and his wife Jane.

On Saturday, October 8, conservationist, Lynne Humphries, will give an illustrated talk on the significance of the memorial and its special features. She will outline the skills and processes involved in the conservation and restoration of the church’s heritage.

Lynne carried out the restoration on the Poulet memorial at Hinton St George, Somerset, in 2014, which gained her the John Betjeman Award of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.

The talk will take place on Saturday, October 8 from 2.30pm until 4pm. Admission is free.
