BRADWORTHY progressed to the second round of the Brayford Cup in a tight, scrappy game.
Hampered by a difficult playing surface and strong winds Bradworthy struggled to find any fluency or the kind of slick passing rhythm that had earned them three successive victories in recent weeks. Carlo Chandler continued his fine scoring form to tap in on the hour mark for Bradworthy and it was enough to separate the sides at the final whistle.
The first half lacked the energy and desire expected of a local derby, Bradworthy formed a series of half chances whilst Hartland barely troubled Brad' 'keeper Will Radford. the best chances fell to Chandler who was inches away from connecting with Andy Cotton's driven right wing cross and Toby Curtis who fired over after a neat pull back from Luke Potter whilst Damien French and Danny Bryant repelled everything Hartland launched at them.
Bradworthy, with the wind behind them, started the second half much brighter and this time Chandler was in the right position to tap in Cotton's low ball after he had burst into the Hartland box.
After that neither side created a clear opening and Bradworthy comfortably held on to their narrow lead to set up an away tie with Torridgeside on February 7..
