POPPIES have become the symbol of Remembrance so Amanda Littlejohns was delighted when her mother said she would crochet some for St Breock’s care home in Wadebridge, where she works.
That was in 2020 when the pandemic was first rampaging. Twelve months later and what was initially a small display has blossomed into something much larger.
“The poppies are beautiful and we have even more of them this year, thanks to Amanda’s wonderful mum,” said Paula Shilson, St Breock’s home manager. “With each poppy representing the poignancy of loss, it’s a lovely collection which our staff and residents treasure.”
St Breock is one of sixteen care homes run by Cornwall Care, a charity that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
