A LAUNCESTON care home has been rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission.

Elmslea Care and Supported Living, Dunheved Road, was found to be ‘fully compliant’ in its latest inspection results.

The inspection report states: “The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.”

Julie Toms, of Elmslea, said: “We knew we had happy residents and now we have recognition from CQC that we provide a good service in all areas.

“We have an enthusiastic staff team who are all appropriately trained.”

Among other comments in the inspection report were: “People were treated with kindness and respect by caring and compassionate staff,” and “Staff said they were supported by the management team.”

Checks were carried out at Elmslea using the CQC’s new way of inspecting services.

The new-style inspection is led from five areas, to determine a service safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

A service can expect an outcome from outstanding, good, inadequate or needs improvement.
