CAMELFORD Town Councillors heard that the ticket machine in Churchfield car park is taking around £100 a week, since its establishment in May.

Esther Greig, town clerk, told the council at its June 18 meeting that the ticket machine is ‘taking out about £100 per week’, along with the news that parking enforcement are currently recruiting eleven new traffic wardens in the area.

She said: “We’ve had a meeting with parking enforcement, who are recruiting eleven traffic wardens in this area.

“The car park ticket machine is taking out about £100 per week and used about 2,000 tickets. It’s working about £12 or £13 a day, so the ticket machine is working itself, which is nice.”

However, she pointed out a potential issue with people using parking spaces for the GP surgery, located at the top of the car park.

She said: “I think it’s a case of working with the doctors to see what we can do. If we don’t enforce something then that area is going to be abused.”
