TRAFFIC backed up into the middle of town last Thursday afternoon, when two cars were in collision on Grove Road, directly outside Lydney Hospital.

Nurses from the hospital were on the scene 'in seconds' after the crash, involving a blue and a silver hatchback, which ended up on its side in the middle of the road.

Paramedics arrived next, and the occupants of the cars were taken into the hospital for treatment.

Fire and Rescue service officers brought an appliance, and were swift to use lifting gear to get the silver car back onto its wheels. The car was extensively damaged.

The Fire are Rescue service confirmed that one appliance attended the scene, and that a woman in the silver car had to be extracated from the vehicle.

The crew were in attendance for about an hour.
