THE Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for North Cornwall has taken the decision to limit the number of scheduled public appearances he makes following a number of threats.
Scott Mann has been criticised on social media in recent weeks for his lack of attendance at local hustings and similar events.
However, a spokesperson for Mr Mann said: “Scott considered all the advice and evidence and after discussions with his team, decided that scheduled public meetings presented a security risk. North Cornwall Conservatives fully support this decision.
“Although I can not go into detail, there have been a number of threats and until the election, our office is in regular contact with the police unit which deals with MP security.
“In previous months, Scott has also put forward enhanced security protocols for staff, as a result of intelligence which has been shared with us.
“Scott has been busy campaigning on the doors, with local party members, however, we do not publicise our plans ahead of the day. We hope that all candidates, regardless of party, are able to campaign in a safe and secure environment.”
