THE Camelford Committee of Cancer Research UK recently held its 38th AGM, where members presented a cheque for £15,100 to the charity.
Held recently at the Pop-in centre, members observed a minute silence, in memory of David Moore, honorary auditor for many years.
Opening the meeting, chairman Pam Boundy welcomed Rachel Turner, the local fundraising manager. Mrs Boundy commented on the many successful years that the committee has had, and thanked them all for their commitment, enthusiasm and hard work over the past year.
Honorary secretary, Madge Walkey, reported on the year’s activities, thanked the local press for publicising the charity’s work, and especially thanked the people of Camelford and the surrounding area, for their valued support and generosity.
Following this, honorary treasurer, Sally Moore, gave a detailed and satisfactory report, and then presented Miss Turner with a cheque for £15,100.
Miss Turner accepted the cheque by congratulating the committee for raising such a marvelous amount of money, and also thanked the many individuals and organisations that had helped to raise the money.
Mrs Boundy, Mrs Moore and Miss Walkey were then re-elected as officers, and Ang Goodman, Joan Goodman, Nicky Hill, Lynn Oliver and Jan Stratfield were re-elected to serve on the committee.
Miss Turner gave a comprehensive and interesting resume of the highlights for Cancer Research UK for 2015, and stressed the importance of the fundraising being done throughout the country, in order to finance the research needed to help fight the disease.
