THIS was the last game of the season and Bodmin were already set for promotion to Trelawney 2 so they bought a team of 16 including many youngsters which they rotated frequently, for Bodmin this game was simply the icing on the cake.

Both teams started brightly but it was Bodmin that took control of the game from the outset and were a constant threat to the Launceston defence. But Launceston did what they have done all season and kept their backs to the wall and broke down much of Bodmins attacking play.

Bodmin eventually opened the scoring midway through the first half when a string of quick passes were played around the D to be followed by a powerful shot into the far corner.

Launceston kept battling and pushed forward with Sharon Trewin and Di Stanbury in midfield linking well to supply balls up to Louise Dawe, Tanya Gribble and Vicki Banks and with continued pressure Launceston were awarded a short corner, their slick corner routine was well defended and cleared from the D quickly to allow Bodmin to break.

Bodmin scored their second just before half time however Launceston certainly didn't feel this game was beyond them and came out stronger in the second half.

Faith Chevannes had a great game in defence for Launceston making some strong tackles and keeping much of Bodmin's attacking play at bay. However, it wasn't long before Bodmin broke again and their speed with the ball meant Launceston were constantly on the chase.

Bodmin scored their third from a short corner which unfortunately Launceston just couldn't keep out and their fourth came minutes after following a great solo run by the Bodmin centre forward.

Despite the scoreline Launceston end the season well and can be proud of the vast improvement since the first game of the season!

Launceston: Becky Clifford, Ali Bailey, Di Stanbury, Nes El'cock, Jane Gardner, Vicki Banks, Faith Chevannes, Louise Dawe, Tanya Gribble, Michelle Roberts and Jan Grahame.
