PEOPLE from Boscastle to Bodmin, and Camelford to Crackington gathered in Camelford last Thursday night (April 7), where 38 Degrees North Cornwall discussed the NHS.

Members of the grassroots campaign organisation expressed concern about the underfunding of the NHS in Cornwall.

Members also discussed the difficulties of reaching hospital and dental appointments, the expense of parking, and the distances involved.

The group also expressed concern that the national shortage of doctors and nurses may be particularly marked in Cornwall because of the low population density, which makes GP practices more expensive to run, and the expense of housing.

Members decided on what research should be done as a priority, and will be meeting again soon to share their findings and discuss how to make them public.

Becoming members of Patient Participation Groups, which should exist at all GP surgeries, was mentioned as a way of supporting GPs.
