A FUNDRAISING campaign has been launched for a second minor injuries treatment at Launceston Hospital.

In June, Launceston modern matron Su Buse asked the Launceston League of Friends to provide the second treatment room.

Currently, there is one room with two treatment areas, separated by a curtain.

The cost of providing the new treatment room is £18,800, although Pam Parnell, chairman of the League of Friends said with extra equipment that will be needed, the figure could be around £25,000.

The waiting room of the Longlands unit, the former post-natal unit, will be the location for the second room.

Among the changes will be a desk and a computer in each treatment room, to save staff time from currently going to an office, which Ms Parnell described as a 'cupboard' and a new glass wall for natural light.
