ST John Ambulance recently held a first aid course in Launceston specifically aimed at parents and carers to tie in with its latest campaign, The Chokables.
The campaign was launched following research that revealed three-quarters of parents in South West England do not know the correct technique for saving their baby from choking, despite it being a major fear.
It included a star-studded animated advert that shows everyone what to do if a baby starts to choke.
The free first aid course was held at Launceston's St John Ambulance Hall and one of the organisation's experts was able to guide those in attendance through a range of essential first aid techniques, with a focus on skills for parents with young children.
A total of nine people applied for a place on the course and it is hoped that more will be organised in the future.
