LAUNCESTON Camera Club have borrowed the empty shop at No 4 High Street to present a gallery of prints of a wide variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, flora and fauna and even ‘object d’art’.
A spokesman for the club said: “There are rather too many empty shops in the town but at least one now presents a pleasing face to the world, if only for July and August.”
The gallery offers 36 prints, the majority of which have been updated at the halfway point at the beginning of August.
Launceston Camera Club meets weekly in Tregadillett Community Hall from September to April at 7.30pm on Tuesdays. There are about 30 members, including both novice and experienced photographers. New members are always made very welcome and the club takes pride in its friendly outlook.
The club offers talks by visiting speakers, usually experts in their particular field of photography, internal competitions for both projected images and prints, externally judged, to encourage both learning and presentation.
The club enters several competitions centred in the South West and does well considering its small size, compared with the city clubs.
Several evenings are given over to a variety of sharing and learning exercises, including both the use of cameras, lighting, image editing software, printing and mounting.
The club members (pictured below) are delighted to have the opportunity of sharing some of their work with locals and visitors alike in their ‘Summer Gallery’.
