WADEBRIDGE 'B' buzzed up through bluebell valley to clash with the Camelford 'B' team on May 4 and returned to the estuary town after losing by 67 shots to 55. Camelford rinks: H Dunk, A Tilley, P Spencer, R Edmonds 14-22; H Teague, T Bailey, N Wright, E Lowe 29-15; E Smith, M Robbins, R Staple, M Prout 24-18.
In a Croydon Marks (Knockout) match at Camelford on May 5, Stratton visited the Lanteglos Road venue and the hosts were victors again to the tune of 56- 43: K Davey, M Robbins, E Lowe, P Buck 15-14; F Bennett, N Wright, R Shillaber, B Gosling 26-15; A Simon, D Taylor, C Parsons, S Hambly 15-14.
On another chilly evening Camelford 'B' visited the new green at Stratton to take on their 'C' squad. The visitors - and the home team - were bemused by the 'bumpy ride' the bowls had to undertake with the outcome more of a lottery than of skill. However, the home side scraped home by one shot and took 4 points out of the 5 on offer: H Dunk, T Bailey, P Spencer, R Edmonds 11-17; A Tilley, F Bennett, N Wright, E. Lowe 21-15; E Smith, M Robbins, R Staple, M Prout 19-20..
Here's hoping the weather soon starts to warm up so that we can enjoy some good evenings' bowling.
Francis Bennett.
