THE young people of Camelford threw on their cooking aprons and baked up a storm to raise money for the local youth cafe recently.

Four volunteers took to the bandstand at the entrance of Enfield Park to sell a variety of homemade cakes and delicious treats, raising just over £40 towards Camelford Youth Cafe.

Sammy Emery, a young volunteer who took part in the fundraising event, said: “The day went incredibly well and we raised just over £40 within an hour and a half! All the proceeds will go towards Camelford’s youth cafe allowing for either new equipment or a disco night, depending on what the young people would like.”

Sammy, Bryony Davis and Jacob Marsh, all young volunteers, along with deputy mayor of Camelford Claire Hewlett, donated their time on the day to help. Young volunteer Chelsea Vidler, Jacob and Claire all donated some cake for the cause as well. Sammy added: “Without their donations, we wouldn’t have been able to raise the money that we did. Overall, it was a very productive day and a positive one for our lovely community!”

The youth cafe runs every Thursday at the Old Bank from 7pm to 9pm.
