CAMELFORD Town Council has issued a warning to parents after incidents at the skate park.

It comes after the council addressed repeated issues of youths climbing on the container roofs at the skate park in the town, which it owns and operates as a public amenity.

The council said that there had been a number of reports and complaints of children climbing on the container roofs at the skate park, leading to the authority having to take action of a preventative nature in order to prevent it occurring going forward.

The measures include the implementation of anti-climb paint to each of the containers, which the authority hopes will address the issues reported by neighbours of the adjoining properties.

However, it has warned parents that they should be aware of the implementation of the anti-climb paint, as it is extremely hard to remove from clothing if it comes into contact with it.

They have also asked parents to remind their children who regularly spend time at Camelford Skate Park of the dangers of climbing onto the container roofs in light of the recent incidents, and further called for a reminder to respect the neighbours of the skate park and their property.

A spokesperson for Camelford Town Council said: “Following a number of reports and complaints of children climbing on the container roofs at the skatepark, Camelford Town Council have taken the action to apply anti-climb paint to each of the containers.

“Parents: please be aware that this paint is extremely hard to remove if it comes into contact with any clothing! We would also ask for parents of children that regularly spend time in the skatepark to please remind their children of the dangers of climbing onto the container roofs, and also to respect the neighbours of the skatepark, and their property.”
