PCSO Sam Smith and her colleagues have shown Sir James Smith's Year 7 students how local police teams operate to catch speeding drivers.
Four teams of 14 students and police staff clocked over 20 speeding motorists in just over two hours on Tuesday, March 17.
The drivers were given the option of a £60 fine and points on their license or an interview by the young people. All speeding motorists chose the interview option and gave the students a valuable insight into the work of the police.
Teacher Mr Ed McGuffie said: "Students gained a thoughtful understanding of the emotions felt by both the police and the motorists."
PCSO Smith explained that they were approached by the school, as normally they carry out the exercise with primary schools in the area.
"It worked really well. The feedback from some of the drivers was good. They felt very small indeed."
