THIRTEEN Year 9 pupils from Sir James Smith's Community School, Camelford, recently attended an 'IT Futures' event in Pool, to learn more about the pace of information technology. The event, held in the Innovation Centre, was organised by the Cornwall Education Business Partnership, with the support of the Digital Peninsula Network. Those attending toured the centre, which is home to a wealth of IT businesses, and learnt about the types of IT jobs which will be available to them in years to come. They were also shown new technological developments, such as a machine which 'makes' everyday items, such as cups and saucers, in people's homes via a computerised format sent through the internet by the stockist. Since being officially opened in 2012 the Innovation Centre, with its fast fibre-optic broadband infrastructure, has attracted a range of digital companies.
