The Camelford and District Senior Citizens Forum held a successful raffle and cake stall on Saturday, April 11. This was held in the archway at the Masons Arms, and the group have extended their thanks to landlady Jo Olde for her hospitality and help in running the event. A number of local shops donated prizes for the raffle, and many people stopped by to buy cakes and raffle tickets — and find out more about the group at the same time. The forum held an Easter week of events, including a lunch for members at the Darlington Arms, the raffle, cake stall and recruitment campaign. The raffle was drawn at the Masons Arms on Saturday. The aim of the Camelford and District Senior Citizens Forum is to provide information and improve services, particularly transport, for people in this area over the age of 50. Meetings are held in the Methodist Chapel, Camelford, on the third Wednesday every May, August, November and February. The group tries to find speakers for each meeting, who can give members information of interest to them. At the next meeting on May 20, there will be a presentation by Mr Nigel Newberry on the digital TV switchover. The forum now has around 80 members and the decision was made recently to break away from Truro and become a branch in its own right, while still being affiliated to the National Pensioners Convention (NPC).
