AFTER a busy summer season, Camelford Town Band pulled out all the stops and hosted their ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert on Saturday, October 1.
Featuring guest vocal soloist Erika Borley and compere Andrew Pitt, the night was a big hit with those who came along.
With the Union Jack and Kernow flag flying high, the audience were treated to a variety of music.
The first half featured a fantastic solo from Lewis Baker, on Euphonium, playing O Sole Mio followed by a less serious but no less fantastic Nellie the Elephant, performed by Tom Woolf on Eb bass. It is such a rare sight to see a big instrument finding itself at the front of the band.
Audience participation was both enthusiastic and entertaining as they joined in the frivolity of traditional ‘Last Night of the Proms’ music, including Pomp and Circumstance, Jerusalem and I Vow to Thee My Country, led by Erika Borley.
The band is now due to have a quick breather before commencing Camelford Carnival week with a concert during the crowning of the Carnival Queen. Thanks were expressed to all the bands supporters and they look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
