THE majority of Camelford residents who filled out a recent questionnaire on the future of the former primary school site have called for a medical centre to be developed at the location.

As a result of the town meeting held at the One Stop Shop on October 6, questionnaires were completed by those present on the night.

The Mayor, Cllr Rob Rotchell offered the town an opportunity to vote and questionnaires were completed and returned by October 12.

Some 215 replies have been received by the council including the 68 completed on the night of the meeting.

The questionnaire asked the person completing to rank the options available from first to sixth with any comments. The methodology for the scores were simple in that first gets six points and sixth gets one point.

? A Medical Centre came first. On the night of the meeting, it generated 318 points and overall 1,320 points.

? A recreation ground came second. One the night it received 195 points and overall 739 points.

? A municipal block came third. One the night, it had 195 points and overall 608 points.

? Food retail came fourth. It got 139 points on the night and overall 471 points.

? An industrial site came fifth. One the night, it generated 84 points and overall 330 points.

? Housing came sixth. One the night it had 62 points and overall 262 points.

The matter has been placed on the agenda of the next council meeting, to be held on Tuesday.

Later this month, Cornwall Council will hold a planning workshop in Camelford for council members, the Primary Care Trust and any other interested parties to help sort a way forward for the site.
