CAMELFORD Town Council has set its 2011/12 precept at £94,500 — the same figure as 2009/10.

The precept was set at the December 21 meeting of the town council, held at Camelford Hall.

Recently, the town council has provided sports equipment in Enfield Park for the fitness of residents. The equipment has been designed for teenagers and adults and should be used as part of a fitness programme (as reported in last week's 'Post').

It is planned for a professional demonstration of the best use of the equipment in March of which everyone will have plenty of notice.

The council has now acquired land for a cemetery in the event that Lanteglos Church cannot provide space to accommodate requirements.

It is hoped that the municipal cemetery will also provide suitable areas for the burial of children and pets, as well as natural burials and cremated remains.

The supply and spreading of salt and grit has also had to be included for the forthcoming year.

A council spokesman said: "With rising costs it has been a difficult exercise but most members were resolute to keep a neutral budget."
