A?MEETING was due to be held last night (Wednesday) to discuss the air quality and traffic issues in Camelford.
The meeting was called after a resident, Debbie Balaam, posted on Facebook that she was fed up with the traffic in the town.
Since the A30 diversions have been implemented, the traffic through the town has got worse, and Debbie said: “Who on earth thought Camelford was a suitable diversion for such heavy traffic has no thought for its residents’ health and wellbeing.”
Comments following these included concern at the speed of traffic at either end of the town, and the deterioration in air quality as a result of the volumes of traffic.
Louisa Burnett added: “It’s not just the speed they drive past Victoria Gardens and Treclago View, it’s the air pollution for our children to breath. Something needs to be done. If it was any other town it would have been but because Camelford has been given up on, we don’t matter.”
A number of people said they were interested in forming an action group to highlight the issues.
The meeting was to be held at the Old Bank (former NatWest building) in Camelford at 7.30pm.
