Camelford Police Cadets gave up their holiday time to volunteer for a collection of food for the Wadebridge Foodbank on Monday, August 9.
The cadets did an amazing job speaking to every customer entering Co-op, High Street, Camelford on Monday morning. The public were exceptionally kind in their contributions and within two and half hours they had collectively donated a huge amount of food and money for people in crisis.
PCSO Sam Smith said: Thank you to those people who kindly donated to this cause, Co-op for your hospitality and the police cadets for giving up your time.
Cadet Ryan Sturtridge said: People have been very generous and it is really a good idea.
The Foodbank, part of a national network run by The Trussell Trust, serves the Wadebridge, Bodmin, Camelford and the surrounding rural areas.
It works by exchanging a voucher (not benefit related), distributed by a local statutory or voluntary organisation, for a food parcel, supplying people with three days' worth of nutritionally balanced dried and tinned food in order to tide them over in an emergency.
Cadet Billy Taylor commented: Its a good thing to collect food to give to people who are in crisis.
Marcus Taylor added: It is doing good for people who are in difficulties or in an emergency situation.
Vouchers can be obtained from doctors, midwife or health visitor, local schools and churches, children's centres, social services, Camelford Police Station and other voluntary organisations.
