THE Camelford Community Police Cadets recently took part in their second partnership working with Cornwall County Council Street Warden.

The cadets were provided with high-vis jackets, gloves, bags and litter pickers. They split into two teams and covered the areas of Dark Lane; Mount Camel; Chapel Street; Clease Road and Highfield collecting a range of litter from bottles, cans, sweet papers, food wrappers and cigarette butts.

The cadets worked tirelessly for two hours and managed to fill seven sacks of rubbish.

Camelford PCSO Sam Smith said: "We came across a lot of dog mess on the pavements and on the verges which was not picked by us but was reported to the council. It is a real shame that people are still choosing to not pick up after their dog.

"We had a great evening and hopefully people noticed that their streets looked a bit cleaner the morning after."

The police have also been conducting 'Vulnerable Vehicle' checks in the Camelford area.

PCSO Smith explained: "If your vehicle is seen with valuables on display please do not be surprised if you receive a letter explaining this to you. This is an educational tool to encourage owners to not leave these items on display and in turn this could help reduce vehicle crime."
