CAMELFORD is one of the safest places in the country, the area's new police inspector has revealed.

Sector Inspector Graeme Johnston, the new inspector for Camelford, Bude and Launceston, presented the town's crime figures at the full council meeting on Tuesday, January 14.

Last month there were 18 crimes committed in the town, meanwhile over the past year there was a total of 233 offences. This amount included crimes in the town and surrounding areas such as Delabole, Boscastle, Crackington Haven, Marshgate and Tintagel.

Insp Johnston said: "Camelford is, as a town, one of the most safest areas in the country."
