WHILST many will remember the evening of Saturday, December 3 for its miserable weather, the residents of Camelford who attended the switch on of the town's Christmas lights will take from it a far brighter disposition.

A soaking wet, cold evening didn't so much greet the people as drench them, but the commencing of a fun-filled night for both young and old soon helped them forget about the grim conditions.

It got underway with families from Camelford and the surrounding area taking part in a homemade lantern procession alongside the town band, departing Clease Car Park at 6.15pm. Collectors from the Christmas lights committee were heartened by the generosity of those braving the adverse weather conditions.
