A book, published about Camelford has raised over £3,700 for the Children's Hospice South West. 'My Camelford' was written by Mr Harold Lane about the Camelford he knew in the 1930s, but the manuscript was put away in a drawer after his death, and it was only several years later that his wife thought it was doing no good in a drawer and so decided to publish it. She was determined to give any money it made to the Children's Hospice. "Geoff Seccombe and Frances Bennett helped me put it together," said Mrs Nancy Lane. "But never in my wildest dreams did I think it would make so much." The book has had several reprints and has been sent all over the world. So far it has reached as far as Alaska. Recently Mrs Lane visited Little Bridge House, Fremington and was thrilled to be able to show her husband's book to several of the fundraising staff. Judy Pride, CHSW co-ordinator for this area, said: "What a fantastic way to raise money; and such a splendid amount! This book is entirely appropriate for us; one of the things we do here at Little Bridge House, and up at Charlton Farm, is to help our families to make happy memories and that's what the book is all about for Nancy." "Harold would have been delighted," declared Mrs Lane.
