A COUNCILLOR has again called for Launceston to start work on putting together a neighbourhood plan.

The Post has previously reported on Launceston Town Council’s decision not to go ahead with developing a neighbourhood plan, but at a meeting last week Cllr John Conway said it is ‘needed’.

Neighbourhood planning allows people to come together through a local parish or town council and say where they think new houses, businesses and shops should go, and what they should look like.

Cllr Conway said: “Get a neighbourhood plan for Launceston set out so we can have more say. Can we please go back and start getting a neighbourhood plan set for Launceston?

“We need a neighbourhood plan for Launceston if we are going to have any teeth in any say of what’s built here.”

Cllr Rob Tremain said: “It was agreed by this council [a neighbourhood plan] wouldn’t be discussed until the new council takes office in May.”
