Cllr Rotchell has had a busy three months and gave an update including highlights of what he has been up to recently.
Among those highlights were attending Blue Light Day, where people with physical disabilities were able to interact with the emergency services, and being present at Sir James Smith School’s climate change declaration on Friday, September 20, which he described as ‘most impressive’.
Cllr Rotchell said: “Another thing is the housing at Highfield, with the improvements taking place there. They are tenement blocks and well passed their sell-by-date.
“I was also at Camelford Show and did a big piece on the bypass. Of the people we spoke to, 97% were in support of the bypass and the folk who objected had objected the first time we spoke to them about the bypass, so there is nothing to be concerned about there.”
As well as attending the opening of Chi Winder, the first custom-designed homeless facility in Redruth, Cllr Rotchell also attended an open day of Sowenna, Cornwall’s first child and adolescent mental health facility. He continued: “It is a breathtaking facility, and is the first in Cornwall. It has been said it is head and shoulders above any in the county, with a therapy space, educational space and more.”
Adding to this, Cornwall Councillor for the Tintagel division, Barry Jordan, also commended Sowenna and the work of town and parish councils in Cornwall. He said: “The 213 parish councils in Cornwall were contacted and so far approximately £7,000 has been raised by parish councils for Sowenna in Cornwall, so a big thank you to all the parish councils.”
