WITH the help of funding from Tesco, Jane Brooks Decorators (both of Launceston) and membership fees, the Stourscombe Residents' Association (SRA) has purchased new grit bins and dog waste bins.

Thanks to the two businesses, the group have been able to purchase two new dog litter bins, in addition to the one Cornwall Council installed.

Chairman Les Whaley said: "You will see the bins around the estate; the Tesco bin has been placed at the start of the lane off Robin Drive, to the lane leading to Stourscombe. The other one from Jane Brooks is by the green flood plane in Snowdrop Crescent; and the council bin is along the path by the green open space off of Bluebell Way.

"We hope that with these extra red dog litter bins around the estate, that all dog owners will use the bin. We hope that this will stop dog waste being left on the green areas, which is not nice for children playing around. Also, we hope this will stop dog waste bags being put over the hedges of the local farmers' fields, where cattle are feeding."

The group has also asked for a Cornwall Council dog warden to patrol the area.
