TRE, Pol & Pen farm shop, situated just outside of Launceston, has won the Project of the Year under £5-million category in the 2019 Michelmores Property Awards. The family-run farm shop features a café and shopping space, offering produce from the Landue Estate and other local suppliers.
Tre, Pol & Pen is owned and run by the Landue Estate. It is made up of approximately 500 acres and stocked with a herd of Devon Ruby cows, calves and sheep.
Tom Malcom, co-owner of the farm shop, was delighted by the award. He said: “It’s fantastic to get industry recognition for the design of the site here at Tre, Pol & Pen.
“We have enjoyed collaborating with Trewin Design to create a space that sits within the beautiful rural environment of Lezant and showcases the amazing array of food, drink and homewares from the local area”
The 2019 Michelmores Property Awards’ gala dinner was held at Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter last month hosted by actor and writer Sally Phillips. The annual Michelmores Property Awards, now in its 17th year, celebrates the very best of the South West’s building and construction sector.
John Beauchamp, judge of the Michelmores Property Awards, commented: “This project represents a tremendous investment both by the family that developed it and by the community in supporting the scheme. It’s a farm shop with an innovative design, made out of local materials and stocking local products. This is an asset to the local community and a very worthy winner.”
Tom believes the success of the store has been down to the various markets they hold.
He said: “The market place here at Tre, Pol & Pen has been a key element of the success so far here. Not only does it provide a fantastic vista for customers to sit out and enjoy a coffee, but it has been a centrepiece for the monthly craft markets we host here in association with Native Makers, the next of which is coming up on July 27.”
Moving forward Tom hopes he and his team can keep developing what they have started and continued to showcase the work they do.
“As word continues to spread about Tre, Pol & Pen we will continue to shout from the rooftops about the fantastic food, drink and craft we stock here and the producers we represent. That means more unique events, workshops and markets, making the most of the fantastic space we’ve been able to create here.”
